Criminals are constantly developing new shoplifting techniques, challenging retailers to step up shop security

One new method, which is becoming more and more common, is lining a bag, purse or coat with aluminium foil.

Even if a product is protected by an EAS hard tag or label, the aluminium foil shields it from the EAS antenna and prevents the system’s alarm from being triggered.

This leaves the shoplifter free to walk out of the shop and the stolen goods remain undetected.

EAS antennas with Metal Detector are anti-theft antennas with an integrated metal detector. They trigger an alarm when someone walks into a shop carrying a foil-lined bag designed for shoplifting.
